Just This Once
As you may have insightfully inferred, I'm a Chicago Cubs fan. And, as any true Cubs fan can tell you, a Cubs fan's two favorite teams are:
1. The Cubs
B. Whoever's playing the White Sox
But for the upcoming World Series, I'm going to have to root for the boys from Chicago - for a couple reasons:
The White Sox are a charter member of the American League, and were created in 1900 when Charles Comiskey moved his St. Paul Saints to Chicago.
The Astros are hardly rich in tradition, having only existed since 1962 - when the Cubs were already nearly a century old and had already been waiting 54 years since their last Series win.
And finally:
Chicago: Great architecture
Houston: No zoning
Chicago: Lou Malnati's pizza
Houston: Rocky Mountain oysters
Chicago: Graceful gulls wheeling over Lake Michigan
Houston: Mosquitos the size of bats
Chicago: 6 NBA titles
Houston: 2 NBA titles - and only because Michael was "retired"
Chicago: The Art Institute
Houston: Velvet Elvises, card-playing dogs
Chicago: Buddy Guy
Houston: Billy Ray Cyrus
Chicago: Carl Sandburg, Saul Bellow, Studs Terkel, Gwendolyn Brooks
Houston: Your search - "famous houston authors" - did not match any documents
I rest my case.
Go Sox!!!
